About Pitchfork

Cindy and Mike Cieciwa (SEE-wah) established Pitchfork Ranch in 1986 with the purchase of the 17-acre farm and Baa-Baa-Louie, an Angora doe goat. Within a year, she was joined by two Nubian goats, two Rambouillet sheep, and one natural-colored Romney sheep. After several years, purebred Romneys proved to be the favorites and the flock grew to twenty breeding ewes. After the purchase of Teddy, a llama gelding, in 1994, Cindy and her father Harold Johnson began a partnership with the acquisition of five bred female llamas. After a few years of ups and downs, the flock numbers have stabilized at our present levels ( thirty to thirty-five breeding ewes and eleven llamas).
Margaret Van Camp purchased her first llama in 1997. Although each does a little of everything, Cindy, who is a nursing consultant in real life, specializes in nutrition, health and breeding. Harold, a retired manufacturer's representative, was a great help in the areas of the farm's finances and contracts, but has since retired from these duties as well. Margaret, a high school teacher, specializes in training and farm maintenance.

We at Pitchfork Ranch are committed to producing exceptional sheep and llamas that can compete at the highest levels with much larger breeders. We have always placed quality above quantity. Our animals are easily managed, well-conformed, beautifully fleeced, reproductively guaranteed and reasonable priced. We welcome the opportunity to provide continuing support after the sale, and have formed friendships with many of our customers.
